Poonch Hockey creates History, lifts J&K UT championship for the first time;       Beat Jammu 3-0 in finals,       Scored 29 goals in tournament and conceded nil

POONCH: Creating history, Poonch Hockey has shown its best performance ever and lifted prestigious J&K UT(Formerly State Championship) Championship by defeating Jammu Blue 3-0 at the K.K Hakhu Stadium Jammu, the other day. Before reaching final, Poonch remained unbeaten after beating Srinagar by 9-0, Ganderbal by 11-0, Baramulla in semifinals by 6-0 and Jammu blue in final by 3-0. During the tournament Poonch scored 29 goals and conceded nil.

The team led from front by Captain  Mukesh Singh with players like Pawan Sharma, Matinder Pal Singh, Ranveet Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Navjot Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Rakshit Sharma, Amandeep Singh, Rishab Sharma, Shoiab Mughal, Agrim Raina, Salil Raina, Jagmeet Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Shahid Bashir. S Narjeet Singh was Manager of the team while Sunil Kumar was Coach.  It is pertinent to mention here that Hockey Poonch enjoys the reputation of among top four teams of J&K UT and having its own rich history of 40 years and has remained a powerhouse in J&K Hockey under the supervision of Late Hockey Coach Sham Lal Sharma and now, two training centers are being run at Poonch by NIS Coach Matinder Pal Singh, NIS Ranveet Singh, NIS Mukesh Kumar and Coach Pawan Kumar and are preparing future stuff. This victory has increased the morale of youngsters and they hope that Poonch will continue to perform the same way in future competitions. The players also thanked and  appealed DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav for fast pacing of work on sanctioned turf at Poonch. The said that without playing on turf, Poonch Hockey has created a history and if players be provided turf at Poonch,  Poonch can be a hockey powerhouse in J&K UT. The championship was organized by Hockey J&K under the president ship of Rajinder Singh Kuku and other office bearers of Hockey J&K.  Manager of the team S Narjeet Singh congratulated the team and said that it’s a big chapter of Poonch hockey.
