Nearly 80 players of Baba Band Singh Bahadur club of different age groups today attended the grand party and learned many technical things about hockey from seniors of the club. The event was organized under the supervision of Matinder Pal Singh, NIS Hockey Coach, and Ranveet Singh, NIS hockey coach. On the occasion, Matinder Pal Singh stressed upon the young players to play the game with a positive attitude, good intentions, zeal, and raise the standard of hockey in the border district of Poonch. On the occasion, youngsters thanked FIH President, Narendra Dhruv Batra; S Rajinder Singh Kuku, Gen. Secy Hockey India; Rajiv Sharma, Working President Hockey J&k; Dr Taran Singh, Gen Secy, Hockey J&K; LG of J&K UT, Manoj Sinha; Director YSSS and district administration Poonch for providing international standard hockey Astroturf at Poonch, the work on which is likely to be completed within the next few weeks. Talking to “POONCH TODAY”, Matinder Pal Singh, “This Indian hockey win will boost the morale of youngsters and with this impressive performance of Indian hockey, more and more youngsters will join hockey in near future as hockey is our national game. I especially thank Hockey India and Hockey J&K for their support to BBSB hockey club and for promoting Hockey in a big way. It’s the result of big efforts of Narendra Batra sir that Indian hockey is improving everywhere” added “the function was organized for morale-boosting among younger hockey players of our club. With the full backing of Hockey India and Hockey J&K, I am sure the players of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur hockey club shall continue to perform better for the promotion of hockey. From the last few months, players of our club have performed exceptionally and are doing selfless service on the ongoing Astroturf work as this turf will further raise the level of Poonch hockey at UT and national level.” Other senior hockey players Salil Raina, Sanjay Misri, Kewal krishan, Jyoti Sharma were also present on the occasion.
