She said that it was in the manifesto of the BJP to abolish Article 370, and the saffron brigade did that. It is pertinent to mention here that when she was in power, those stone pelters, anti-nationals, and Hurriyat agents who were involved in throwing stones at security forces and for their various anti-national acts, when taken to task by the security forces, Mehbooba came to their rescue by branding them as “Bhatke Hue Naujawan.” Those so-called “Bhatke Hue Naujawans” were working against the real “Idea of India” because they were seen time and again raising “Azaadi” slogans and throwing stones at security forces, but at the time, Mehbooba did not mention her so-called love for the “Idea of India”. Moreover, before the abrogation of Article 370, she made a strong statement against the tricolor by saying that “no one will give shoulder to the tricolor,” and that very sensational statement was against the real “idea of India.” Now, when the SC upholds the union government’s decision to abrogate Article 370, Mehbooba’s love for her so-called “idea of India” suddenly appears, and this has raised a question mark on her double standard. As a Chief Minister, Mehbboba made some sensational decisions that were against the real “idea of India.” When in power, in some matters, she was siding against the “Idea of India,” but now, after receiving a big setback, she has started showing her love of the “Idea of India” with political intentions, and there is no reason that people in Kashmir will trust her anymore, and this fact is giving Mehbooba huge frustration. It’s a fact that Kashmir-based political parties for decades misused the special status for their personal benefits, and now the people of Kashmir are not ready to find themselves trapped again in the hollow slogans of political leaders, as they want development and their strong identity as Indian nationals. Even after the SC judgment, there was no response from the people of Kashmir as they were busy in their day-to-day activities, least caring about political rhetoric from the two leading political parties, with an eye on the coming parliamentary and assembly elections. Moreover, people have welcomed the directions of the SC, in which the apex court has directed the Union government to conduct assembly elections before September 2024 in addition to granting statehood. J&K has become an integral part of India, and there is no scope for anti-India politics or Hurriyat ideology anymore. It would be better if Kashmir-based political leaders like Mehbooba understood sooner rather than later.
