Nursing College Rajouri under the radar as a few students tried to disturb the peaceful atmosphere; Police nowhere

RAJOURI: A few nursing college students tried to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the Rajouri city with a social media post over a week ago. The post drew sharp criticism from the people of a particular section of the society. Acting swiftly, the GMC authorities suspended the three students due to their inappropriate behavior, which could disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the district.

Various organizations demanded a strong action against the three students; else they threatened to hit the roads. SSP Rajouri was contacted on the issue by “POONCH TODAY,” but he preferred to remain silent, the reason best known to him. Although the FIR has been lodged into the issue under no. 304/25/U/S 299 BNS, the weak attitude adopted by the police and the college authorities in taking a strong action as demanded by some organizations over the issue raised a big question mark on those sitting at the helm of affairs. It is pertinent to mention here that in the past also, similar attempts were made by some antisocial elements to play a mischievous role with a hidden agenda to disturb the peaceful atmosphere, but the successive administrations tackled those issues with a lethargic mindset that ultimately increased the confidence of antisocial forces. The recent incident has badly hurt the sentiments of a particular section of the society, but the weak attitude of the authorities in taking a strong action against the three students of the nursing college has further shown that law is different for different people. Although the principal GMC Rajouri, vide no. GMCR/2025-26/1275-78 dated 14-06-2025, acted swiftly against the students, the question arises, why did the Rajouri police fail to take strict action against the tainted students under the law, because the act of those three students had the capacity to disturb the peace in Rajouri? VHP and Bajrang Dal also accused the college authorities of protecting the students and demanded tough action against them. A strong action into the issue is needed from SSP Rajouri to show that the law of the land is supreme and any attempt to disturb peace will be dealt with an iron fist.
