Time and again, people demanded railways connectivity, four lane highways, better health care and educational facilities, better tourism infrastructure to name a few, but every time, their dreams were given a cold shoulder by political class of the state and country. National Conference, Congress, PDP and even BJP ignored Pir Panjal when it comes to ensuring development of all kinds. In spite of getting regular step motherly treatment from those at helm, the people of Pir Panjal never compromised with their secular and national character. On recent developments, majority of people opine that it will open up new opportunities both in government and private sector. On the other hand, civil administration, Police and civil society of both the districts played a god role in maintaining peace and normalcy in the districts. Holy festival of Eid-U-Azha, historic Chari yatra, Independence day and Raksha Bandha festival passed off peacefully due to well coordination between administration, Police and civil society. DIG Rajouri Poonch Vivek Gupta, with the active support of DDC Rajouri Mohd Aijaz Asad, DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav, SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral succeeded in ensuring peace in both the districts on recent political developments. Earlier, Advisors K. Vijay Kumar, Farooq Khan and K.K Sharma, ADGP Dr S.D Singh Jamwal and IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh also visited Poonch and urged the people to maintain peace and communal harmony. The civil societies of both the districts also played a good role and stood with civil administration, Police and Army. With having good track record from communal harmony and nationalism point of view, Poonch and Rajouri districts deserve a massive developmental package covering all areas. People here need railway connectivity, web of two lane/four lanes roads, medical college in Poonch district, better tourism and health infrastructure, more options of higher education, 24 hrs power supply and employment opportunities. In fact, every area of Pir Panjal needs development and its the responsibility of union government to address the aspirations of Pir Panjal people which are known all over the country for its rich culture heritage, communal harmony and nationalism.
