POONCH: The ruling party at the centre is known for not compromising with the national security concerns, but it is otherwise in Poonch district, as a majority of political workers coming from different political parties have joined the ruling party just for their personal benefits, and in this connection, a strange case has come into the public domain in which permission for opening a crusher was granted in favour of a ruling party worker in village Salotri of Jhullas, near the LOC in district Poonch.
The installation of the said crusher was heavily objected to by the army authorities on the plea that it’s a big internal security concern, as the same area remained a common route for terrorists to infiltrate. Army authorities in a strong letter which is available with “POONCH TODAY” said that due to high operating noise from the stone crusher and hot mixer plant in the Khasra no. 215 of village Salotri, it will have a huge impact on the army installation from an internal security point of view. The army authorities also mentioned that it will lead to a reduction in alertness of soldiers due to noise, and the same plant will act as a landmark to guide the infiltrators. They further said that with the installation of the said plant and crusher, the movement of troops would be observed by the workers, which would lead to internal security concerns. It is pertinent to mention here that a number of illegal stone crushers are operating in the district, and from such illegal crushers, the concerned DMO reportedly used to fetch a heavy share on a regular basis. Earlier, a former DC of Poonch, who was known for heavy corrupt practices, gave permission to some stone crushers near army installations. The state of affairs in the Poonch administration was so terrible that many such business firms were granted permission related to crushers and illegal mining. By using the banner of the ruling party, many tainted forces managed to hit their ultimate interests with the help of the Poonch administration in violation of rules. Although the opening of a business is a fundamental right of an individual, ignoring the internal security concerns despite strong objections raised by the army authorities has put some BJP workers in the limelight. Locals alleged that on the one hand, the BJP talks of national security concerns, but its workers are openly seen giving the least concern to the national security issues by moving forward with the installation of illegal stone crushers near the LOC. SSP Poonch, in his letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, forwarded the concerns raised by the army authorities about not granting permission to open crushers and a hot mixer plant in the same area, but in a shocking state of affairs, the district administration reportedly gave a green signal to the crusher owners to go ahead with the process. It raised a big question mark on DC Poonch and DMO Poonch for their silence on this development of the utmost national security concern. It is seen that the ruling party has become a party of land grabbers, drug peddlers and other law violators, as maximum people with doubtful credentials have joined the party with the only agenda of running for their bread and butter and escaping the law of the land for their various frauds. Are the ruling party workers more powerful than the national security concerns? The BJP, which was known for its pure nationalist approach, discipline and the nation’s development, suddenly has deviated from its true identity due to the presence of tainted forces known for their opportunist credentials in its cadre. This development has shattered the minds of traditional BJP voters who believe that the party leaders of Poonch BJP, which is divided into various groups, are more interested in their personal business benefits than in addressing the concerns of the common man of Poonch and are openly ignoring the national security issues, which is a cause of big concern.
