POONCH: District Police Poonch, the other day, observed Martyr’s Day at District Police Office, Poonch, to pay a solemn tribute to Late Selection Grade Constable (SgCt.) Rajinder Kumar on his death anniversary.
The commemoration was led by SSP Poonch Sh. Shafket Hussain, JKPS, and attended by Addl. SP Poonch Sh. Mohan Lal, JKPS, senior police officers, family members of the martyr, and prominent citizens of the district. A wreath-laying ceremony was held, during which floral tributes were offered to the braveheart who made the supreme sacrifice while combating terrorism in Poonch on 11th September 2016. Late SgCt. Rajinder Kumar’s exceptional courage and devotion to duty were recognized by the award of Police Medal for Gallantry (Posthumous) in 2018. His sacrifice continues to inspire fellow policemen and the community at large. Speaking on the occasion, officers highlighted the indomitable courage, professionalism, and dedication of the martyr. They reiterated that the sacrifices of such valiant heroes shall never be forgotten and will remain a guiding light for future generations of the police force. District Police Poonch remains steadfast in its resolve to remember and honor its martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty while safeguarding peace and security.
