Police Officer in Jammu city getting “Hafta” from various sources, Even ignores his senior officer

JAMMU: An arrogant Police officer posted in a Thana on a main highway of Jammu has created a huge terror among few business houses and as a result, he is getting regular “Hafta” from those who are doing business of Sand and Gravel. Even those who are involved in Timber business have become his routine customers. As most of the activities of these business people are from the same highway of Jammu, so this arrogant Police officer has been taking full benefit of his power. He has also started to extend his reach of “Hafta” to some more business houses, particularly Bovines related. Even some Wine shops and small vegetable vendors are in his “Hafta” list. Surprisingly, he has been ignoring the directions of his superior officer, who, time and again directed him not to indulge in such activities to bring a bad name to J&K Police. In an another incident within the jurisdiction of his Thana, a drive was launched against the drug peddlers on a specific information and Police arrested few drug peddlers and one of the drug peddler in that gang was found to be a SPO working in the same Thana. Fearing strong action from high ups, the said Police officer hushed up the matter and all the nabbed culprits were later freed. In many drug related cases, the said Police officer arrested many culprits and later by scripting financial deals, released all, by showing to his higher ups that his jurisdiction was crime free. Sources also said that the said Police officer remained a favorite of successive SSPs on account of many pecuniary things.
