PSOs to Chunu-Munnu-type leaders: Poonch people questioned police about the absence of security for the common man during shelling times

POONCH TODAY NEWS

POONCH: Although the issue of providing PSOs to some leaders, social workers, and others remained in public discussion for a long time, the top brass of police failed to address the issue of public interest on time, and ultimately, when the Poonch city was going through the worst time, some people leveled allegations against police inefficiency in dealing with the situation, as they said that a number of police officials were attached to some Chunu Munnu leaders, social workers, and some others.

An anguished person, who lost his near one in the shelling, said, “Jisko dekho woh leader aur uske pass PSOs. Jo bhi BJP leader banta hai uske pass PSO. Aam logon ka kya hoga?” Likewise, many people raised the issue and said that if a large chunk of police personnel are deployed with these leaders, then who will take care of the common man of Poonch? Reportedly, some PSOs who are attached to such political leaders, social workers, and others do household work, and it raised a big question mark on the credibility of Poonch police. What’s the fun of police if a large number of PSOs are attached to these Chunu-Munnu-type leaders who ultimately failed to do their duty for the common man of Poonch when it was badly needed during the crisis? For the J&K police, security of the common man is important, but over the past some time, this PSO culture has become a fashion, especially among the  ruling party leaders. Those who have no one at their back also get PSOs, and this culture has demoralized the morale of the common man, as people used to say, “Poonch police sirf leaders ke liye hai. Jab unki zarurat thi ground pe shelling ke time, tab koi nahi tha logon ke liye.” How many police personnel are attached to officers, leaders, PRIs, social workers, religious leaders, and others in the entire district? It’s high time for the top brass of Poonch police to conduct a security audit and call back the police officials who are unnecessarily attached to Officers, Chunu-Munnu-type leaders and social workers because, over and above, public concern is of utmost importance, feel locals.
