Self-styled deshbhakat BJP leaders have no vision for the Jammu region; ‘Fasli Beteres’ are in the BJP only for their business interest

JAMMU: The Jammu region always stood with the BJP mostly, giving the saffron brigade a huge mandate during the 2014 and 2024 assembly elections, but the self-styled ‘deshbhakat’ BJP leaders never stood for the cause of the Jammu region in a strong way.

The majority of the sitting legislators and other BJP leaders at the regional and district level work only for their self-interest, bothering least about the interest of the common man. A majority of BJP legislators and other big leaders have managed to open their big business establishment by misusing the trust of the voters of the Jammu region. As compared to the Jammu region, the valley-based leaders have a much broader vision and have always stood for the cause of the Kashmir Valley. But the Jammu region BJP has mostly become a collection of visionless leaders who have misused the blind trust of the Jammu region and become legislators purely on the Modi wave. At an individual level, a large number of the BJP leaders of the Jammu region don’t have an individual face value. They are only experts in raising political slogans to hoodwink the public. Even in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, the BJP got a considerable number of votes despite fully knowing the fact that the BJP government shocked the people of Poonch and Rajouri by joining the area with south Kashmir and making a separate parliamentary seat without any logic and against the aspirations of the people. When both the regions have different ambitions and thinking, then on what basis did the BJP government backstab the people of Poonch and Rajouri? The saffron brigade in the Poonch-Rajouri region has become a party of businessmen who have joined the BJP to secure their personal self-interest and to escape the law for their various land-related frauds. A number of leaders from different political parties, after joining the BJP, have opened their big business units despite objections from various important stakeholders, and some leaders were given huge benefits by the party of various kinds.  Whereas those BJP leaders who remained loyal to the party from the 1980s were sidelined, and ‘Fasli Beteres’ have been given everything. These opportunist BJP leaders who have no face value in public have been using PM Modi’s face to secure their bread and butter, least bothering about the interest of the Jammu region.  The Jammu region, despite its nationalist credentials, has always received the stepmotherly treatment at the hands of the successive governments because these BJP leaders have no vision at all. Even after 35 years of migration, Kashmiri pundits have not been returned to their homelands, and it clearly shows the failure of the BJP government. All the important issues of the Jammu region have been ignored by the self-styled ‘deshbhakat’ BJP leaders who have made a mockery of everything. In the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, the majority of leaders from other parties shifted their loyalties and joined the BJP to secure their business future. While in one party, they got one benefit, while joining other parties, they got other business benefits, leaving the common man to shout political slogans only. It’s high time for the top BJP brass to understand this public pulse and not take people of the Jammu region for granted, or else the saffron brigade is on the way to face political disaster in the future because of ignoring nationalist Jammu’s interest time and again.
