POONCH TODAY NEWS

POONCH: On social media platforms and through some paid touts in the media field, the officials of Poonch municipality were doing their best to project the imaginary work of the municipality to give the impression that the department has a visionary leader, but on the ground, the horrible state of affairs in Poonch city exposed the pseudo claims of the municipality officials.

At various places in the Poonch city, choked drains for days are the best example of how poor the management of the municipality is. Who cares on the ground? In the Poonch market, from Fort Bazar to Prade via Main Bazar, a number of shopkeepers have encroached upon the market space, but the self-styled efficient officials of Poonch municipality have never dared to take action against such violators who have made a mockery of the system. Although the executive officers, a few days ago, convened a meeting of some people to discuss the issue of waste management, it turned out to be a PR stunt to dodge the government in general and people in particular that the municipality was doing excellent work. It’s a fact that there is a huge shortage of safai karmacharis in the municipality, but the concerned officials have no sound policy to manage the affairs with the available force. It is pertinent to mention here that the Poonch municipality remained a hub of brazen corrupt activities over the years, as massive funds under various schemes, including the information activity, were brazenly misused over the years, but the question arises of how the administration and the UT Government allowed the funds to be used in open fraudulent activities. Due to the visionless approach of the top brass of the Poonch municipality over the years, the city has become a jungle with heaps of garbage found here and there. A number of potholes in the town have become a death trap for the public, but the municipal authorities have turned their back on these issues of public importance.  Rather than dodging the public by misusing the government funds through PR stunts like organising meetings, information activities, and using paid touts in the media to project the municipality in a positive way, it would be better if the Poonch municipality officials formed a high-level strategy to ensure cleanliness at all levels in the Poonch city. The Deputy Commissioner  Poonch, who seems to have no public concern on the ground, needs to hold every officer accountable because the last three Deputy Commissioners did a big disservice to the Poonch district with respect to their brazen inefficiencies on several accounts. To ensure proper cleanliness drives across the city of Poonch and regular action against open encroachments of market space, the concerned officials need to work on the ground rather than wasting the government funds on false projects through information activities and other PR stunts.
