The last week was earlier expected to be a challenging one, but adequate security measures were adopted by district administration and as a result, festival of Eid and Rakshan Bandhan passed off peacefully. Even today, on the eve on Abrogation of Article 370 and COVID-19 lockdown, people of Poonch cooperated with civil administration and Police. For ensuring peaceful atmosphere DIG Rajouri Vivek Gupta, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral, ASP Khalid Amin, Dy.SP DAR Zafar Nawaz, Dy.SP HQRS, Dy.SP Ops Munish Sharma, were seen at many places along with entire men and machinery of Police. Coordination between different security agencies and civil administration led by DC Poonch Rahul Yadav proved successful, although, the festival season remained a low key affair due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. All religious activities were held by strictly implementing COVID-19 guidelines which were issued by administration from time to time. There were no reports of any untoward incident from entire Poonch district on the eve of August 5, which is an eve of last year’s abrogation of special constitutional temporary provision.
