Bad professional chemistry between senior and junior police officials hampering monetary prospects of a few at police station level

POONCH/JAMMU: A sensitive district of Jammu division, which always remained in the news for drug mafia and terrorist activities, is now again in the news, but this time for bad professional chemistry between senior and junior police officers posted in the said district.

However, some junior police officers who were known for generating good income sources for themselves and their seniors through various well-known sources have suddenly discovered a senior who is not meeting their monetary expectations. Insiders in the police department told “POONCH TODAY” that earlier, the immediate superior officer used to get a defined share from his juniors, but suddenly, the senior has shown his discomfort and hinted at a greater flow of sources. The juniors allege that their boss is hoodwinking the seniors, saying that he has taken some hard steps against various types of crimes, but the reality is far from the truth. They alleged that the senior is a master at finding new ways of earning money, but on the front side, he is projecting himself as a professionally sound officer. The area, which remained a hotbed of drug peddlers and militant activities, is also known for being a major source of income from some big business houses for a few tainted police officers who believe in calling shots by all means. Earlier, some police officers posted in the said range earned heavily and built good relations with their seniors for their long stays. Some persons from the fourth estate were also accommodated in the best possible way by these police officers for running a positive narrative in their favour to hoodwink their top bosses. Now, the time has changed as the senior wants to get the maximum share, leaving the junior on tenterhooks. One of the junior officers also approached high-ranking police officials about his transfer to another district, alleging that their immediate senior is very shrewd and is playing both the roles of being sincere and getting monetary benefits through force, which is not digestible among the juniors. The said junior officer, who reportedly used various sources to bring the current circumstances of the area to the attention of higher ups, as well as taking the help of some persons to plant stories against the senior, who reportedly has gained overall control over all areas coming under his jurisdiction, leaving junior frustrated. Junior police officials alleged that a few paid persons played a role in the projection of the senior officer as a sincere one against the felony, but the reality is else. The senior officer is said to be a BJP supported officer while his juniors are trying to please all parties.  It would be interesting to see how things will be settled between this shrewd senior officer and his juniors as the former is taking the help of paid touts for his positive projection before the high ups eyeing long tenure.
