POONCH: A heated debate is going on at different places in Poonch town on the issue of the civil administration failing to attend the National Police Day in Poonch to pay tribute to the police martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Not a single officer of the civil administration was present, despite being invited by the police.

Ahead of National Police Day Officers of administration were seen for the inauguration of a truck service center, just ten kilometers away from Poonch City. It clearly showed that some important officers of the Poonch administration have no respect for the police martyrs. On the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and LG J&K UT Manoj Sinha were seen attending the national police day at the UT and national levels, but the self-styled efficient officers of the Poonch administration preferred not to attend the event, and this has raised a big question mark on the intentions of the civil administration. It is pertinent to mention here that the performance of the district administration also remained under a big question mark after the change of guards from a real performance point of view. Only some routine tasks were taken care of, not major ones. Officials of the district administration were seen beating around the bush on social media about various adventurous activities, but the majority of them failed. One of the activities was a cultural festival at Dana Shahstar in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, and the said event turned out to be a big failure. Much hue and cry was made about various tourism-related events, and what happened beneath the carpet is very well known to all. Failing in developmental activities, the civil administration was seen diverting the attention of people to some useless works and events. Such exercises were meant to be organized only for self-interest and to build a positive image of the civil administration. As per the views of some prominent people, district administration has no ground existence on various important developmental and public issues. An impression has been generated in the minds of the people that the district has a weak administration at all levels, and this fact was justified further when officers of civil administration were seen not attending the National Police Day, which has happened for the first time. Moreover, a big question mark is also raised on the intelligence agencies of the government that those officers, having a questionable history against the nation, were given plum postings, and this has also lowered the morale of nationalist forces in the district. In the district administration Poonch, nothing is working on the ground properly. Only some traditional sycophants and “Zabardasti ke prominent citizens” are seen praising the administration for their self-interest. The incident yesterday at National Police Day has raised a big question mark about the intentions of civil administration. Are the officers of civil administration more important than LG and the Home Minister because they decided not to attend the national police day to pay respects to the police martyrs? A high-level inquiry is needed from LG’s administration into the careless attitude of district administration because this unfortunate incident has given the wrong signal to the people. People are also seen saying that the chemistry between police and civil administration seems weak because of the presence of mostly depthless officers, barring a few.
