No action taken by the government yet in Thanamandi municipality backdoor appointment scam

RAJOURI: The open fraud scripted by a few executive officers of urban local bodies in throwing dust in the eyes of the government by appointing their close relatives to posts meant for other sections of society and later promoting them as junior assistants out of the way in Thanamandi and some other municipalities has not been followed through to its logical conclusion, raising questions about the functioning of the top officers of the ULB department in J&K.
“POONCH TODAY” first highlighted the issue of how some executive officers, during their posting in some municipalities in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, scripted brazen financial scams, including this backdoor recruitment scam, by adjusting their blood relations, and this latest scam added another feather to their cap of frauds. Shockingly, those EOs, who were the brainchild of this scam, are still roaming freely without any action from the government. Those EOs who scripted this scam were also involved in multiple financial irregularities during their postings as EOs in other municipalities, but unfortunately, they were not taken to task by the government. Highly placed sources in the directorate of ULB Jammu told “POONCH TODAY” that the ULB directorate is also aware of this backdoor recruitment and other financial scams scripted by a few EOs, but due to unknown reasons, top officials of ULB have maintained a criminal silence over the matter. At a time when thousands of unemployed youths are looking for government jobs, but those, who were adjusted through backdoor ways by tainted EO’s, were not taken to task. A high level inquiry is needed into the matter of how some EOs misused their official positions and were involved in multiple financial scams, including this backdoor recruitment scam in Thanamandi Municipality and other municipalities of the Rajouri-Poonch
