POONCH: A new practice has been started by some officers of the Poonch administration, and that is to take the shelter of some ruling party’s back channel workers with an agenda to influence the fourth estate, and E.O Municipality is on top.

During his posting in Thanamandi Municipality, the said E.O. (along with his predecessors) were involved in multiple foul plays as established by the inquiry committee constituted by the Rajouri administration, including backdoor recruitments, but in a shocking state of affairs, the government gave him a plum posting in the Poonch district. Here, the said E.O. also started hitting big sixes from various schemes, but when he was exposed on account of his poor performance, he started finding ways and means to find himself in a protective atmosphere. Although the E.O. was openly protected by the former Deputy Commissioner despite his open involvement in multiple frauds, after the transfer of the former DC, the E.O. now feels alone and has tried to influence the “POONCH TODAY” through some of the ruling party’s back channel workers, who were also exposed on account of their questionable agenda. It is pertinent to mention here that Poonch municipality remained in the news as nothing concrete was done during the last five years by the elected regime. Reports of favoritism culture, illegal allotment of shops, GEM purchasing frauds, unplanned works executed, misuse of funds, and other issues remained in the limelight, but no inquiry was ever conducted by the government. After the tenure of the former municipality was over, the said E.O. started playing all shots independently with an additional charge of Surankote Municipality. With the full backing of the former DC, funds under various schemes were misused brazenly. Now, uncovered from all sides by feeling the heat for his wrongdoings, he has started to take the help of the ruling party’s back channel workers to pressurize ‘POONCH TODAY’ to stop writing against him. The new modus operandi being adopted by some officers, including E.O. Poonch Municipality, to take shelter of political leaders further established the fact that they are involved in multiple financial scams for which a proper inquiry is needed from the government to give a befitting retribution to the tainted officials.
