Influential Assistant Professors with long stays in colleges of the Jammu division have not shifted for long; Bad-attitude staff members propping up abhorrence among students

POONCH/JAMMU: For years, nobody in the corridors of power took steps to ensure regular transfers of teaching staff members in the higher education department, particularly at the college level. Close relatives of bureaucrats, politicians, renowned figures, and those having strong links in the corridors of power managed to ensure prime postings for their near and dear ones in renowned colleges in Jammu. Many attempts were made from different quarters in the government set up to get the details of staff members who have exceeded their tenures in colleges, but in spite of having full details of influential staff members who were not touched despite their long stays, questions have been raised on the workings of those sitting at the top level in the higher education department. Even to silence some emerging voices, some attempts were made to transfer blue-eyed staff members from one place to another, but that too was on-prize postings in the same district. The issue of influential assistant professors enjoying prime positions due to their strong linkages with those in power remained in the limelight, but the government never took action against them. Meanwhile, in some sensitive areas of the Jammu division, a new trend is seen in some colleges where staff members with questionable credentials are seen propping up abhorrence among the students on different issues, even against issues of national importance. The concept of the same standard for all college students has become a thing of the past as visible, alarming differences in the education scenario are seen frequently. The way a few staff members with questionable histories are propping up abhorrence among the students, the involvement of anti-national forces supporting them behind the curtains is not ruled out. Students are the future of the country, and there are sufficient reports that the silent men and machinery of forces inimical to peace have been doing everything to shake the roots of the education system of the higher education department. If an attempt is made to check the social media accounts of some staff members with questionable credentials who have been posted in the higher education department over the years, the security agencies will surely get a huge amount of information about their mindset, which is likely to be in favour of forces inimical to the peace in the country. There are two aspects that need to be investigated in detail by the government. One is the category of those staff members who are relatives to bureaucrats and politicians and have strong links with those in power, and the second category of staff members are those who are being supported by the men and machinery of anti-national forces operating from different quarters within and outside the government setup and who are being supported to run their agenda in colleges of sensitive districts. The union government has introduced a new education policy to promote a healthy education system for the future, but by not taking action against such forces that are hell-bent on propping up abhorrence among the students silently with the sole agenda of preparing them for wrong sentiments against the nation in addition to internally shaking the education system, the government seems to be committing a big mistake from an internal security point of view by ignoring this sensitive area. Before starting transfer drives, the government needs to check the credentials of each staff member through some renowned intelligence agencies. Those staff members who have long stays or have the resources to manage their transfers within the district or to a nearby district need to be shifted properly to ensure proper reforms in the department. Although a number of assistant professors were transferred during the last few months, influential APs have not been touched yet, and it raises a big question mark on the top officers of the department. Moreover, those staff members with bad credentials and long stays who seem to be working on the visible agenda of forces inimical to peace by propping up abhorrence among the students in a silent way need befitting retribution in addition to shifting them to faraway places because they are spoiling the education system internally at the college level due to their wrong mindset. It is a well-known fact that a student always follows his teacher by observing his activities, and if, unfortunately, a staff member with questionable credentials is involved in such wrong acts with gestures or by appearance with malafide intentions to influence the psychology of young minds under a hidden planned agenda, then the future of the student is definitely not good, and if not detected at the earliest by the intelligence agencies, then the student is likely to fall into the hands of the forces inimical to peace by following the activities and silent directions of the tainted staff members. Educational institutions are the soft targets of anti-national forces, and by not placing their men and machinery in some important institutions, intelligence and security agencies are committing a big mistake. A high-level investigation is needed into the issue of those staff members with long stays and questionable credentials who are propping up abhorrence among the students, under the likely planned agenda of forces inimical to peace, to book them under relevant laws. The government, through its renowned intelligence agencies, needs to keep a hawk’s eye on the activities at the college level for all the students to make them faithful citizens of the country by introducing educational reforms, including a homogeneous standard for all.
