Arrival of new officers: “Guldasta Gang” in jolt as shortage of flower bouquets hampers its sycophancy agenda

POONCH: As the J&K government has shaken its civil and police administrations across the UT, its effects have also been seen in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.

However, as per its past practice, the commonly known “Guldasta Gang” of Poonch, which has the habit of indulging in self-interest sycophancy of officers, is in jolt because, reportedly, there is a shortage of ‘flower bouquets’ in the city, and their sycophancy agenda seems to be in danger. This “Guldasta Gang” has members from different fields related to self-styled civil society members, the majority of whom have no one at their back but love to project themselves as big ones; some NGOs; self-proclaimed sports promoters; social media agents of the administration; sources cum media-persons of police and administration; and social activists. The main agenda of these gang members is to project themselves as big ones in their respective fields, eyeing different kinds of favors from police and the civil administration. The majority of them just want to get a district, UT, national award, or DG Medal on the basis of their self-created achievement, as in the past many controversial persons managed to get various awards by dodging the civil administration and police with wrong facts. Due to this nexus of the “Guldasta Gang” and officers over the years, a huge dent was given to the developmental scenario of Poonch. As a result, the shrewd officers took full benefits of this gang of sycophants and looted funds meant for development. In the eyes of the common man, this unholy nexus between sycophants and administration always proved to be a big setback for the development and internal security concerns of the district. The majority of “Guldasta Gang” members have their business and personal interest in the administration and police, and this is the only reason that they are seen surrounding the officers for making social media photos and reels to show the people that they are an important persons for the administration. Who knows which individual is working for which anti-national agency and gets access to visit security installations in the name of prominent citizens and self-styled activists belonging to various fields? In Poonch district, there are many examples in which some people, who managed to enter important administrative and internal security places, were found to be involved in anti-national acts. Some ruling party workers in Rajouri and Poonch were also seen active in prominent places of police, civil administration, and the army, but later they were found to be  drug peddlers and terrorists. Some tainted forces people in the media field are also seen taking full benefits of their relations with the police, army, and civil administration by doing sycophancy, and this issue also remains a topic of discussion on various public platforms. Thousands of crores were given to the Poonch district by the J&K UT and the union governments during the last few years, but due to this unholy nexus of “Guldasta Gang” members and the administration, shrewd officers looted the funds, and such types of big frauds never came into the public domain. Some members want SPOs, some want their men to be posted as SPOs against heavy shares, and some want contacts of various works. The most shocking thing is that some officers of the administration managed to form big business collaborations as partners, and it clearly indicates that this unholy nexus between the “Guldasta Gang” and the administration proved a huge disaster for the common man, as the issues of the common man never reached the doors of the police and the civil administrations. Some members project themselves as big political leaders; as such, thousands of people are behind them. Some NGO walas with questionable credentials were often seen doing boot licking of officers for their personal self-interest; some want DGP medals and various awards, and some want PSOs, and likewise, there are many similar personal interest issues, but it’s the common man that suffers from administrative deficit and related issues. But this jugalbandi between “Guldasta Gang” and the administration is always proved to be a big setback for Poonch touching various fields because the district mostly got officers with a lack of wisdom. It is high time for the important officers of the administration to understand this foolishness sooner rather than later and let merit speak in every field because the administration is meant for the common man and not for “Guldasta Gang” members only whose only agenda is to praise the officer with their speeches filled with shero-shayri full of butter and jam and ultimately, get various benefits, leaving the common man to suffer from administrative deficit.
