Massive challenge for J&K police, intelligence agencies to detect illegal structures within 15 km of international border; Jammu, Kathua, Samba borders to witness massive action

POONCH TODAY NEWS

POONCH/JAMMU: The people living along international borders in the districts of Jammu, Kathua and Samba have faced a number of ceasefire violations and other anti-India security-related attempts over the decades. Through these routes, Pakistan tried its best to smuggle drugs, weapons and balloons and scripted many infiltration attempts, which led to a number of terrorist attacks in the Jammu region.

The illegal encroachment of areas near the international border always remained a debatable topic, with reports suggesting that terrorists used to get local support from the people living near the borders, and this could be one of the reasons that the union home minister Amit Shah has given strict directions to demolish all illegal structures within 15 km of the international borders. It’s a challenging task for the J&K police in the JSK range and intelligence agencies to implement the decision of the home minister on the ground. Though it is not clear what approach would be followed by the police and the intelligence agencies in dealing with the issue, sources close to “POONCH TODAY” said that the MHA has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of terrorism, and keeping this thing in mind, the police will gather all types of information before initiating a massive crackdown against illegal structures near the international borders, as these structures claim to be the support base of anti-national activities, including narco-terrorism, to some extent. It is not clear whether these actions near the international border against illegal structures shall be extended to LOC areas or not. It is pertinent to mention here that such an exercise has been initiated for the first time in several decades, keeping in view the strengthening of the internal security of the nation. Although the task is challenging, it’s up to the J&K police in the JSK range and intelligence agencies to implement the operation near the international border in a professional way. The body language of the home minister is very clear, and it indicates that the MHA has decided to tackle all forms of terrorism in a strict way, which was never seen during the previous decades. The J&K police and the intelligence agencies have been given a tough challenge near the international borders, and it would be interesting to see how the country’s elite forces shall perform this operation, which is considered one of the strongest operations launched ever to protect the international borders. The way the J&K police and the intelligence agencies have started the exercise, it is likely that the international borders in Jammu, Kathua and Samba are likely to witness massive action from the security forces against terror infrastructure, which is likely to get the support of the people near the internal border who believe in strengthening and protecting the national security concerns.
