PHE officials looted government exchequer on questionable works

POONCH: As “POONCH TODAY” has been regularly exposing frauds of PHE Poonch. In this exercise, another fraud has been added which shows that how department officials prepared fake reports of motor repairing and managed to withdrew huge funds on the name of repairing of motors and pumps. Highly placed sources within the department said that many times, fake reports of damages to different water supply scheme on account of flash floods was given to government for getting sufficient funds, but on the ground, no such damage was done and department officials which includes some JEs, AEEs, blue eyed staff members with the full backing of the boss managed to withdrew funds on the name of restoration. Even some works were given to Self help grounds being run by department officials by violating all norms. Few JEs remained involved in this high profiled fraud. Department has no record of pre and post restoration works and it shows that all this performance was played to hoodwink government with an eye on winning funds for their personal use. Sources also said that brazen fraud was carried out in many pipe works and said if government conduct an inquiry, a huge fraud worth several lacs will come out. Pleading anonymity, a department official said, “Top PHE officials had a close contact with an ex – legislator and 50% of the funds given by that legislator was given back to him as commission and remaining funds were misused by the top department officials by showing works on paper.” On the name of payments to different suppliers for supplying of fitting material, huge compromise was made.
