The district administration, which time and again talks of development on the ground, has yet failed to address the issue on a priority basis. Some internal roads in Poonch City are also full of potholes and have become death traps for bikers and other light motor vehicles. During rainy days, it’s not feasible to ply on such roads, and those, who used to ply on these roads regularly suffer a huge inconvenience. Locals of Poonch City have criticized the administration’s questionable silence on the issue and demanded immediate blacktopping of all major roads in Poonch City, in addition to ensuring proper maintenance of two bridges for smooth traffic. As the monsoon season is just a month away, a little delay from the administration in addressing the issue will prove fatal to its reputation. A senior citizen said, “After seeing the horrible condition of our internal roads and the worst condition of the S.K. bridge and Betar bridge, I have come to the conclusion that the administration has no interest in solving the issues of the common man, and if this is true, then it’s very unfortunate on part of the government.” He added, “LGs administration always claims massive development of the ground, but after witnessing the horrible state of affairs in Poonch city, one can imagine what would be the condition of other far-flung areas.” People from every section of society have sought the immediate attention of the administration and demanded full blacktopping of all internal roads and two bridges; otherwise, people will be forced to come onto roads seeking justice.
