Rs 6.04 lacs embezzled in Urban Local Bodies Department under the nose of Director, Director, X.En, Technical officials played foul

POONCH: “POONCH TODAY” has been publishing regular frauds which have been committed in the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Jammu under the full patronage of successive Director’s and latest in this category is Rs 6.04 lacs embezzlement which was allegedly done by Director, X.En, Technical officials and an executing agency in Qazimohra area of Poonch city. It is pertinent to mention here that Two persons namely Akbar Hussain and Lal Hussain, Sons of Fazal din R/o New Gujjar basti approached Advisor to Governor  and a requested for initiating an inquiry regarding misappropriation and embezzlement of amount of Rs 6.04 lac for a non existing work on the ground. The complainants alleged that a work with the name “Reconstruction work of lane/drain/edge wall/steps by way of 50 mm thick interlocked tiles from pully via H/o Mohd Ameen to H/o Mohd Hussain, new gujjar basti, W.No 1 at MC Poonch was sanctioned” and its executing agency was Urban Local Bodies Jammu Div-1. The administrative approval was accorded vide no DULBJ/2016/6149-52 dated 19-08-2018 and tenders were invited vide ENIT No 34 JBJ-1 of 2017 dated 28-10-2017 with estimated cost of Rs 6.04 lacs. They alleged that fake estimates were prepared and work was completed on papers and accordingly, huge amount was withdrawn illegally with the involvement of Director, X.En ULB div-1 and his subordinate staff. When the matter came to limelight and fearing pressure, X.En and his staff with executing agency sent us an order dated 23-02-2019 for a work amounting to Rs 1.23,861 for keeping us silent, alleged complainants. X.En and his staff also approached us with a  bribe of Rs 20,000, they added. This whole fraud was played  in a systematic manner under the full patronage of Director ULB who failed to book his tainted officials, who were the main players in this fraud. The brazen level of corruption and frauds in the Directorate of ULB shows that the directorate is being run on money influence and those tainted officials and executing agencies  who grease palm of Director office and X.En office, are calling shots openly. Although, the state vigilance department has started an inquiry into the matter, but the role played by Director, X.En, AEE and Technical officials shows the horrible state of affairs in Urban local bodies Jammu where corrupt ones are ruling the roost.
