Poonch Police fails to clear illegal parking and encroachments from main road

POONCH: The burning problem of illegal parking and encroachment of main road from Nakhanwali Chowk to Poonch Fort has not been addressed yet by Poonch Police, as a result, people  are openly parking their autos and other vehicles on main road, thereby, forcing the common man to face inconvenience. Few Police personals deputed at various nakas are not doing their duty effectively as far as managing smooth flow of traffic and this adds to more frustration among the commoners. Entire stretch has become a Parking zone and Police is silent on the issue. Failed to address the most burning issue in public interest, there is a huge question mark on Police as locals alleged that officers are just passing their tenure and they need to perform on the ground and provide relief to people from this nuisance. Ajay Sharma, a local, while talking with “POONCH TODAY”, said, “Sometime, I think that we live in a jungle where there is no rule of law. Look at this main road which has become a parking place. In main bazaar also, shopkeepers have encroached market space. Its horrible that we are having such a  weak administration who looks busy but doing nothing in addressing the issues of common man.” Another prominent citizen of Poonch, said, “Its difficult to pass from this road as there is every risk of meeting with an accident. If this is the condition of main road, then what is expected from this administration in other parts of the district.  Administration seems to have no teeth.” Added “     People are suffering openly due to illegal parking but their voices are not reaching to those sitting at the helm of affairs in administration.”  Poonch Municipality vide its no MC/P/2019/1694-95 dated 16-11-2019 requested the Police for prohibition on all four wheelers  from entering the Poonch market  from 10:00 am to 8:00 PM, but Police has failed to respond and it shows that Police has no interest for public convenience.
