Baba Banda Singh Bahadur club, SLHA win opening matches of Poonch Hockey Premier league

POONCH: Premier Hockey league  started today at Poonch, which is being organized by J&K Sports council with the support of department of youth services and sports Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K.

In the first match, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur club beat Power House club by 4-0. Senior hockey player Gurdev Singh scored three goals for Banda singh bahadur club while fourth goal was scored by Gunpreet Singh. In second match, Sham lal Hockey Academy beat Bhagat singh club by 4-1. For Bhagat singh club, Simran scored one goal, while for SLHA, Pawan, Shobit, Navjot and Mukesh scored one goal each. It is important to mention here that Premier league championship is an initiative of J&K govt to promote sports and to start with, competitions in Hockey, Football, Kabaddi and Volleyball are being organized across the J&K UT. Top team from each discipline will play at divisional level. The matches were officiated by Kulwant Singh, Vikas Sharma, Ranveet Singh, Rajinder Singh Toofan and Harmik Singh. Matches in all the disciplines are being held under the supervision of Nirdosh Kumar, I/C Sports stadium Poonch.
