Poonch Table Tennis players excel in J&K UT championship

POONCH: In the recently held J&K UT Table tennis championship at Jammu, in which players from different districts of J&K UT participated, Poonch players performed very well.

Adnan Ahmed of Poonch became champion in U-12 category. He beat Gurasees Singh of Poonch in final. Pratham Suri of Poonch lost in semi final in sub Junior category. Whereas Vanshika Raina reached in semifinal in sub junior category. In junior category, Vanshika remained runner up as she lost the final and in girls  category, Vanshika reached the finals, but after playing hard, she failed to win girls title and remained runner up. Now, Adnan, Gurasees and Pratham will play in sub junior national, where as Vanshika will participate in sub junior, junior and senior girls championship. Er Saleem Bandey, general secretary of Poonch T.T association, said, “Our younger players played very well. In 1995, Sandeep Luthra and Anil Dutta remained champions at state level and now after 25 years, Adnan has become new cadet champion at UT level. Now Adnan, Gurasees, Pratham and Vanshika will participate in national championship.” Ajeet Singh Jeet, President district T.T association also congratulated younger players over the achievement and advised them to practice hard so that they perform well in national championship.
