March oriented activity of some department’s raises a big question mark on the intention of the administration; Fingers raised on Police, Health, Social welfare, Academy of Art

POONCH TODAY NEWS

POONCH: Many activities were seen in the month of February-March and majority of them were organized by the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Social Welfare, Health, Police and a few other departments at different places across the Jammu division to give an impression to the people that these departments really care about the public.

Although some activities of the police related to drug awareness, debates and sports programs were good; the questions were raised on their timings. Why such activities in the public interest were not organized off and on in months other than February-March. The Academy of Art, Culture and Languages have become a defunct department in the region. If an in-depth analysis of the department is carried out, then one can easily come to the conclusion that open frauds have been going on in the department in the name of various social and cultural activities. Social welfare, Health and a few other departments also fall in the same list because the majority of their activities have become March oriented, leaving out the list of other financial frauds. On one hand, police discourage sportspersons with some unfortunate acts, but on the other hand, they used to organize sports activities under CAP to present a positive picture of the police, so this amounts to a clear double standard on part of police. Although some sycophants from the fourth estate and self-styled civil society members  used to appreciate the top officers of the administration to remain in their so-called good books for their personal interest, it generated a negative impression among the people on the ground.  Meanwhile, police officials were busy with Civic action programs, Poonch was witnessing a rise in theft cases, but some cases were solved by police to some extent. Majority of activities which were carried out by all these department need to be organized  regularly with new concepts of mass awareness, not with years old concept of “Band-Baja”  and “Shero-Shayri” because people need correct information about the schemes of the government and not illogical activities as it a sheer wastage for tax payers money. Government needs to conduct a proper financial audit of such activities which are not giving a proper signal to the people at grass root levels. Police officials also need to shed the practice of double standard in their gestures to give a positive message to the people throughout the year.  With a weak approach at the helm of affairs, unfortunately, the majority of activists of some departments have become March oriented only which needs an immediate attention of the government.
