POONCH, OCTOBER 07: As a part of ongoing Sankalp Saptaah, a series of events were held in Aspirational block Mankote on 4th day of the weeklong event being organised on the theme of Krishi Mahotsav. Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary presided over an event organised at Balnoi.

Over 300 farmers participated and displayed remarkable enthusiasm throughout the event. During the Mela, stalls showcased different Government schemes, latest farming techniques, environment friendly practices, awareness program on Gobar-Dhan and other bio-agro resources to give farmers a detailed insight into the huge scope in the Agriculture sector. The event, organized under the scheme “Alternate Agriculture System for Sustainability” as part of CAPEX-HADP, garnered the attention of the stakeholders, including farmers, PRIs, BDC and DDC members and representatives from agriculture and allied departments towards developmental potential agriculture offers. The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness among farmers in the aspirational block about the benefits of organic farming and meet the Key Performance Indicators (KPI), such as the saturation of PM Kisan, KCC and the strengthening of Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs). The event served as a platform to disseminate information regarding ongoing departmental schemes aimed at uplifting the farming community. The Deputy Commissioner underscored the significance of the people associated with agriculture and allied sectors who work in farm fields to produce different varieties of food crops. The DC directed the concerned officers to initiate an intensive awareness campaign in the rural areas of the district and promote scientific-technical know-how of the agriculture and allied activities to the farmers. He further stressed to provide logistic and technical support to farmers. The DC further said people should attend such Melas to exchange their innovative ideas in the field of Agriculture to get acquainted with latest Agriculture based technologies to produce enhanced and quality production to increase income levels. DDC Member Mankote; Tehsildar Mankote; Chief Agriculture Officer, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer and other officers, besides Sarpanches and PRIs from adjoining Panchayats in Block Mankote actively participated in the event.
