POONCH: A recent alarming trend has started in Poonch in which those journalists and political workers of the ruling party who dare to speak against the administration over various loopholes are getting threatening calls from anti-national forces.

Even the administration has started targeting some journalists by issuing some government orders regarding illegal encroachment, but at the same time, no action has yet been taken against influential people who have encroached river bed areas openly in the “Red Zone.” This episode has become the talk of the town as people have started raising their eyebrows about the intentions of the administration, alleging that the district administration has lost the faith of the common man of Poonch due to its attitude of partiality. This is the first time in the last decade that the civil administration has been accused of brazen partiality in its functioning. Although healthy criticism of the administration with good parliamentary gestures is always welcome, the reverse is not acceptable in a civilized society. But the biggest factor that got the attention of everybody was threatening calls from anti-national forces to some ruling party workers and some journalists. Do officers of administration have links with anti-national forces? It is for the intelligence agencies to investigate, as the recent trend against whistleblowers has become alarming. Mainstream media has always stood for peace, development, and the national security of the nation by playing a constructive role over the years, but it’s an alarming trend that they are being threatened by anti-national forces, and the biggest shocking factor is that the administration has maintained a criminal silence over this development. It is pertinent to mention here that the credibility of the Poonch administration has remained under a big question mark due to some actions full of partiality and some land-related frauds. In the red zone area, a weak party had to face the wrath of the administration when a tin shed was demolished by the administration on the plea of an anti-encroachment drive against illegal constructions in the red zone, but on the other hand, influential people who have built massive buildings and business centers, even on irrigation canals and culverts, were never touched. No action has yet been taken against illegal encroaching on the land of Raja Sukhdev Singh Hospital. Even a huge chunk of state land (State, Forest, and Kahcharai) and buildings are still under illegal encroachment, and no action has been taken by the administration yet. Likewise, there are some sensitive, out-of-the-box created issues with the capability of creating law and order problems that were tackled allegedly with ill intentions by the civil administration, and this pointed towards an indication that a few elements in the administration wanted to disturb the peaceful atmosphere on deliberately created issues to shift focus from their failures. Although some developmental initiatives were taken by the administration earlier, some incidents full of partiality and ill intentions have brought the already weak credibility of the administration to a new low. Sensing trouble from all angles, some traditionally known sycophants and self-styled social media influencers with questionable credibility have been pressed into service for speaking in favour of the administration. An impression has been generated in the district that those who speak in favor of the administration will get a favourable response from the office of the DM, while those, including journalists and political workers, who speak against the administration, even on important issues, will get threat calls from anti-national forces. The biggest shocking factor is that those with doubtful credentials who have strong links with some people involved in hawala funding are also seen lavishing praise on the administration, thereby raising apprehension that the administration seems to have opened its paid resources on social media for its positive image building. It is important to mention here that “POONCH TODAY” for its truthful and bold journalism in the national interest also got repeated threats from some tainted officers, different political and religious leaders, and other anti-national forces over the years, but this newspaper never gave any importance to those anti-national forces but were paid back in the same coin, and ultimately, they all tasted dust at the end. “POONCH TODAY” never bows down before anybody because of its truthful and bold journalism in the national interest. Whatever the reasons are, this issue of getting threats from anti-national forces by some political workers and some journalists who dare to speak against the administration on some important issue is seen as a new trend in making, and for this, the security agencies need to detect the hidden game plan because the possibility of black sheep’s in the administration having links with anti-national forces doesn’t rule out.
