Although the twin border districts of Poonch and and Rajouri are considered highly sensitive based on past history and recent terrorist attacks, J&K police and other paramilitary agencies are active, and there are reports that forces have made appropriate plans to ensure foolproof security for all the pilgrims. At various places in Poonch and Rajouri districts, adequate arrangements have been made by the administrations of both districts. In addition to this, various religious and trade bodies are giving final touches to their plan to provide every type of assistance and facility to the pilgrims. The first batch will reach Poonch on the 7th of August, and the final batch will reach Poonch on the 16th of August. The historic Chhari yatra will take place on August 17th. Earlier, many top dignitaries of the UT administration, including ADGP Jammu and Div Com Jammu, visited Poonch and directed the administration to complete various works related to the yatra. It is pertinent to mention here that during the last three years, the Poonch-Rajouri range witnessed a number of terrorist attacks, but the Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra remained mostly peaceful with the cooperation of security forces, administration, and people from every section of society. The J&K police and other paramilitary agencies played a big role in ensuring peaceful yatra during this crucial time. But this year, the yatra seems to be highly sensitive, as the Jammu region has suddenly witnessed a rise in terrorist activities, so the security agencies are in no mood to take anything lightly. DIG Rajouri-Poonch range, SSPs of Rajouri and Poonch districts have reportedly discussed all security measures for ensuring peaceful yatra. This Shri Budha Amarnath yatra has high religious value after the Amarnath Yatra of Kashmir. Pilgrims from different parts of the country visit every year. The Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra was started with the efforts of VHP in 2005. There are reports with the security agencies that terrorists were planning to disrupt the yatra, and accordingly, hectic efforts were made by the government to ensure a foolproof yatra in Kashmir. Another yatra of religious importance is just a few days away, so the J&K police and other paramilitary agencies are ready to take on any challenge as the next twenty days are very hectic due to the Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra, Independence Day, and the festival of Raksha Bandhan. As the civil societies of both the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri have already assured their full cooperation with the yatra, it would be interesting to see how the security forces would tackle all the emerging challenges for a peaceful Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra.
