JAMMU: The mining mafia in and around Jammu district has become so powerful that it has captured some important chairs of Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts.

Even, few police stations in the JKS range are totally in the grip of the mining mafia. The other day, officials of one of the few police stations coming under  Jammu-Kathua-Samba range openly wrote to the government about the activities of the Mining mafia with the involvement of a DMO and had shown show their weakness in taking to task those, who are involved in this trade. Basically, the story behind that letter which was written to the government is something else as the few police stations in the JKS range were not getting regular commission from the mining mafia and as a result, few tainted minds thought to approach high chairs in government for giving them information about mining mafia spreading its tentacles in the district, highly placed sources in the police told “POONCH TODAY”.   However, those police officials who planned this letter to the government exposed themselves in a real sense as locals of one of the districts in the JKS range told “POONCH TODAY” pleading anonymity that it was just a drama only  to pressurize the mining mafia for giving them a regular commission. It is important to mention here that many police officers operating in JKS range told media many times that the police were strict on the mining mafia and nobody will be spared but behind the curtains, they were hand in glove with the mining mafia. Few people from the Fourth Estate, who are close to police in JKS range used to remain at the beck and call of police for running a narrative in favour of police and by their unprofessional act, they are actually backstabbing the aspirations of the common man by not bringing the real truth in the public domain. Even, few police officers in the said JKS range have developed close relations with few people in the Fourth Estate and used to give them important inputs of the department to secure their hidden agenda of setting scores with their professional competitors. Few top and junior police officers are working in a well-planned manner to earn from the mining mafia and services of few members of the Fourth Estate are also being taken in a well-scripted manner without giving them a thought that they are being used for the self-interest of few police officers. Similarly, the mining mafia has spread its tentacles in Rajouri and Poonch district also and police officials, similarly, like the JKS range, are not taking action on them.  Whatsoever, government claims on mining mafia, but behind the curtains, many police officials are hand in glove with mining mafia in JKS range and top brass of J&K police need to look into the issue as people are getting material at a much higher cost due to the strong networking of the mining mafia in the police.
