POONCH/RAJOURI: J&K UT government has decided to take tough action against tainted government officials who have amassed huge wealth through corrupt practices and in  this connection, many officials with bad reputation are already under the radar of anti graft agencies. Highly placed sources in government told “POONCH TODAY” that officials of major departments like RDD, PHE, Revenue, PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control were on radar for long time, but government is keen to detect more officials form other departments and after getting proper inputs, strong action will be initiated. They said that tough action against tainted officials in twin districts of Poonch  and Rajouri was the top priority of government, because government has got sufficient data that despite providing huge sums of rupees over the years under various schemes, development has remained a distant dream in both the districts.  A source close to government, said, “Various agencies have given clear information about huge corruption level in Poonch and Rajouri administration and in this context, names of tainted officials including gazetted officers  were also given by agencies to government and as per inputs, government is likely to start the exercise against corruption  sooner than later by taking strong action against those who were involved in looting state exchequer.”
