POONCH: Time and again exposed by “POONCH TODAY” that many financial frauds in several crores were scripted by the tainted officials of Irrigation and Flood Control department Poonch and to ascertain the truth, many inquiry committees were formed, but what happened to those inquiries has remained a big mystery till date. Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, fearing exposure of misdeeds has violated RTI act and denied information to RTI applicant. It is pertinent to mention here that the RTI applicant demanded information on funds use under BADP, SDRF and flood restoration works and all payments made under non plan mode. Since it’s a well known fact that few Contractors have been running the affairs of the said department and majority of department officials never moved an inch without the consent of them. Even, majority of works were given to blue eyed contactors over the years by violating all norms. Even a former Deputy Commissioner was hand in glove with all affairs of Irrigation Department Poonch. The issue of brazen corruption in Irrigation and Flood control department came into the notice of government many times, but the concerned X.Ens over the years managed everything behind the curtains. Now, the incumbent X.En who is not in good books of department officials has preferred to violate the RTI act, sensing exposure of major frauds of Irrigation Department. The level of corruption has reached to an alarming level. Even district administration hesitates to take action against the erring officials. During the last four years, many financial frauds have taken place. It is high time that government must form an inquiry committee to look into alleged loot by officials of Irrigation and Flood Control department, which includes X.En, AEE, JE’s and few other staff members,  and take action against the erring officials.
