DM Jammu orders strict enforcement of ban on use of polythene

JAMMU: District Magistrate Jammu, the other day, issued an order for strict enforcement of ban on manufacture, stocking distribution, sale and use of polythene carry bags plastic sheets or like, cover made of plastic packaging and multilayered packaging less than fifty microns in thickness within the territorial jurisdiction of District Jammu.
The DM also authorized the designated officers to seize the banned items and deposit the same in the office of State Pollution Control Board, Jammu who shall dispose of the seized material as per the norms.
The order shall come into force with an immediate effect and shall remain in force for a period of two months from date of its issue or if the order is rescinded whichever is earlier.
