Bizarre! Self styled highly educated Teachers of Poonch district don’t know government officials conduct rules on social media

POONCH: Although, the meeting between few Teachers and Chief Education officer Poonch, the other day, on the issue of transfers went viral on social media unfortunately and accordingly, DC Poonch constituted a committee into the conduct of officials during the meeting in CEO office, but a question mark has been raised on those Teachers who project themselves as “Highly Educated”, but strange, they don’t know government officials conduct rules on social media. In 2017, JK GAD issued a notice which barred government employees to criticize polices of government on social media, but Teachers of Poonch, whose behaviour was exposed on social media, seem to have no knowledge about these rules. As per the order of JK GAD of 2017, “No government employee shall engage in any criminal, dishonest, immoral or notoriously disgraceful conduct that may be prejudicial to the government on the social media.” Similarly, in March 2021, government also decided to have a hawk’s eye on social media accounts of government employees, but all those rules were thrown to wind by these few so called highly educated Teachers as they dare to speak against government on social media. It’s a fact that having a Masters degree, M.Phil or PhD degree doesn’t make one an educated unless one has good manners and fine conduct while dealing with various situations, but the way, few Teachers used questionable behaviour against their seniors of the department have brought the credibility of Teaching community to all time low in the eyes of common man. A senior Lecturer, pleading anonymity, said, “We are not known by degrees we have, but by our manners and conduct with students, our senior and others, but what happened on social media by some officials of education department was extremely painful.” added “On one hand, such Teachers with pomposity show that they are highly educated, but on the other hand they have no information about government conduct rules on social media. Juniors need to learn a lot from their seniors, but the behaviour of few surprised one and all.” Another officer of high rank, said, “If Teachers have some grievances, that can be addressed in a proper way, but this is not the way that one starts targeting the whole department on social media by violating government conduct rules. As per Govt order no 222 PW(R&B) of 2021 dated 12-07-2021, no govt employee can claim posting of his choice.” added “Its very unfortunate behaviour shown by some Teachers and due to their inopportune behaviour, people have started to doubt the credentials of Teaching community of Poonch.” Even, few Teachers jumped to social media and expressed their displeasure openly on the issue of Transfer list and by their illegitimate act; they violated the government order over conduct rules for employees. However, locals are keen to know the output of an inquiry initiated by the office of Deputy Commissioner Poonch into the matter. They said that those Teachers, who are known for hollow show off and self made importance in the department need to learn government officials conduct rules first and must have good manners before projecting themselves as self styled “Highly educated” Teachers.
