Paharis unhappy over silence being adopted by ex- legislatures over ST status; Govt employees violating rules and regulations openly
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: Pahari speaking people have shown utmost displeasure over the silence being maintained by former legislatures of Poonch on the issue of ST status. Majority of Pahari leaders who are fighting for their demand of ST status have said that they stood with all the Pahari legislatures on different occasions, but it gives them huge pain that the majority of them have not come openly in support of their demand of ST status. They said, “We are not against anybody. Even Gujjars are our brothers. But we are demanding our due share and those leaders, who got our valuable vote, should come forward and support our demand” added “Their silence shows that they only give preference to their self interest as they have nothing to do with Pahari or Gujjar voters.” Another young Pahari leader, on the condition of anonymity, told “POONCH TODAY,” We can’t believe that those leaders who were supported by Pahari people for years are silent on this cause of ST status to Paharis. They should not take Paharis for granted now. Enough is enough. We will vote only for BJP if the saffron party fulfills our demands of ST status. Nobody should take us for granted now.” It is pertinent to mention here that the issue of ST status to Paharis has become a most debatable issue in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri and day in and out, many controversial statements are coming to counter this proposed move of Union government for granting ST status to Paharis. Even, few leaders have crossed their limits and are indulging in a bad war of words. Even government employees have forgotten rules and regulations and are seen on social media running youtube channels under propaganda. Are government employees authorized to run youtube channels and come openly to give interviews?” Is the J&K administration sleeping over this matter? Few government employees are openly creating a divide in the society and shockingly, running their channels and participating in various interviews openly, by violating civil service rules. By their unparliamentarily behavior, they have proved that they have actually come from a fish market where there is no rule of the law. A Pahari leader, who retired from government service last year, said, “Union government will take final call on ST status to paharis and it’s of no use to give undue importance to those people including government employees who have launched a propaganda against us.” added “Yes, but during this crucial period, we are unhappy with the silence being maintained by ex-legislator of Poonch and Rajouri districts. But we appreciate ex-legislator Mushtaq Bhukhari who has been supporting this movement wholeheartedly.”
