POONCH/JAMMU: Jammu police have taken a significant lead in hawala financing cases with multiple raids that have taken place over the last few months at several places of J&K UT.  Even a former minister was also taken to task, and the case was still going through investigation.

Meanwhile, Jammu police and Delhi police arrested two people a few days ago for their involvement in hawala financing, and significant information has come to the attention of Jammu police from the arrested persons, and further investigation in the case has begun with some persons were called for enquiry into the case.  State Investigation Agency(SIA) and Delhi police earlier,  supported the Jammu police to bust this hawala network and in these connections, raids were also carried out in Poonch city at different places. When contacted, SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli(IPS) said that the case has been transferred to SIA now. Although the hawala financing module remained active through Cross LOC trade for years and after getting the information, the government of India suspended the trade and started investigation through the premier investigation agency(NIA) which is still going on. Many traders were reportedly involved in hawala financing and money from hawala was used to support anti national activities in J&K. The Union Home Minister is very strict on busting hawala financing modules, wherever it is operating in the country as strong directions were issued to all intelligence agencies  including NIA, SIA and J&K police. It is pertinent to mention here that a leading national reputed news channel in its reporting on the Kashmir situation in the years 2018–19 clearly showed that a big hawala financing racket to support anti India forces was operating in the J&K, especially in Kashmir region with international roots, and acting swiftly, the security agencies of the country did a lot in detecting this big plan. A few days back, with the arrest of two people in Delhi and from Jammu bus stand, and subsequent raids at several places shows that Jammu police and security agencies have got full information about the hawala financing module. Reports from different quarters are saying that this hawala financing network remained active for the last more than fifteen years in J&K. However, to bust this network due to exposure of a recent case with the arrest of two persons, J&K Police, State investigation Agency and Delhi Police have joined forces, aided by intelligence agencies and the investigation has started. Although Pakistan was trying heavily to revive terrorism in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, but J&K police, the Army, other paramilitary forces, and a strong intelligence grid foiled every plan of Pakistan. Despite suffering severe setbacks in recent years, particularly the repeal of temporary Articles 370 and 35-A, Pakistan was uneasy about continuing to support terrorism. The emergence of hawala financing networks in the country, particularly in J&K with their international roots, have put the security agencies in a challenging situation, and the government has full information that Pakistan was trying hard to revive terrorism, especially in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. It is pertinent to mention here that with the active support of people of this border belt, J&K Police, Army, intelligence grid and other Para military forces were successful in completely flushing out militancy from this border region a few years ago, but occasional terror incidents during the recent past had shown that Pakistan had planned to revive terrorism in this belt and the exposure of latest hawala financing cases in some parts of J&K UT has indicated something fishy behind the curtains with many people are coming into the radar of security agencies.  A few days back, a security review meeting was conducted at Ace of Spade Division Rajouri by different security agencies to assess the ground situation and form appropriate plans to foil the enemy’s design. The timing of the meeting was a clear indication that security agencies have got enough information about the hawala financing module in the region and the raids of SIA and Jammu police were related to that. A few persons were already questioned by security agencies in the latest case and more persons are likely to be produced for further investigation.  Sources close to “POONCH TODAY” in the corridors of power, pleading anonymity, said that  the activities of many NGOs, trusts, some fake media platforms and a few other people with doubtful credentials, even some government employees, are also under the radar of the security agencies related to hawala funding in J&K, because, over the years, such entities were seen developing good relations in sensitive districts with those in power and had an easy access in civil and security installations and this questionable gesture of such people with questionable credentials have put the intelligence agencies in alert mode.  The investigation into the hawala financing case is going on strongly by SIA and it is likely that those who remained part and parcel of this module, wherever they are in the entire J&K, will be brought to justice by security agencies.  As J&K police have launched an aggressive strike on terrorism and hawala financing networks after the abrogation of temporary articles 370 and 35-A, anti-national forces have started feeling the heat. That’s why they are changing their tactics off and on. In the past few months, there have been attempts to revive terrorism in the Jammu region, especially in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, but those attempts were strongly challenged by J&K police, Army and other paramilitary forces. DGP J&K police, Dilbagh Singh(IPS); IGP Jammu, ADGP Mukesh Singh(IPS); Vivek Gupta(IPS), DIG JKS range(former DIG R-P range), SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli(IPS); former SSP Rajouri, Sheema Nabi Qasba(IPS)(now SSP Handwara) played a magnificent role in countering Pakistan’s efforts to revive terrorism in the  areas around Jammu city and also in Poonch-Rajouri belt  during the last more than one year.  On the one hand, NIA and other intelligence agencies have started a massive crackdown to flush out those who are directly or indirectly involved in terror activities, including hawala financing; but on the other hand, J&K police officials in close coordination with intelligence agencies have struck the terror industry by all means. The recent exposure of hawala financing with international roots, has given another reason to Jammu police led by SSP Jammu Chandan kohli(IPS)  and the State Investigation Agency(SIA) to strike hard on the anti national network. Under the strong directions of the Union Home Ministry, the security agencies are investigating the matter from all angles and it is likely that these hawala financing networks, which are reportedly active at different places of J&K, will be busted sooner than later and those, who remained involved in it will be brought to justice by J&K police, National investigation Agency(NIA), State Investigation Agency(SIA) and other intelligence agencies for their anti national acts.
