POONCH/JAMMU: After demolishing the terror industry and anti-national ecosystem from the soil of the J&K UT, LG Manoj Sinha, in a strong and much-needed gesture against drug terrorism, launched a historic and massive war against drugs through a 100-day anti-drug campaign named “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan”.

The campaign simultaneously launched from various district headquarters of the UT as well. In his speech, with a powerful gesture indicating tough days ahead for all those involved in this menace, LG Sinha even said that those officials who remained involved in the crime will be dealt with heavily, and he already directed the top brass of the J&K police and intelligence agencies to prepare a list of those officials who played a negative role in the flourishing of drug terrorism in the UT of J&K. It is pertinent to mention here that drug terrorism in J&K has taken many lives over the years, as Pakistan wanted to attack the young brigade of Bharat through this drug menace, in which many big people were involved, and the money earned from this racket fuelled terror activities against Bharat. This trade has spread its tentacles in almost every district of J&K, and many youngsters have already become victims of this drug terrorism. Many social, religious, political and other organisations have been raising this issue for long before the J&K government, but no policy was ever formulated in J&K against this menace. However, the much-needed action initiated by LG Manoj Sinha has sent a strong message to the drug-terrorism industry in J&K, as he stated that anyone involved in this trade will be dealt with severely. LG said that for those involved in this drug terrorism, their Aadhar cards, driving licences, passports and arms licences will be revoked, while movable and immovable properties will be seized in addition to an investigation into their bank accounts and related activities. This initiative is the first time in the J&K UT that such a tough action against drugs has been initiated, and the credit for this effort goes to LG J&K Manoj Sinha, who earlier demolished the terror industry and anti-national brigade from the soil of J&K, which no one ever expected. People from every section of society have hailed the vision of LG and said that this drive should continue for a year unless this drug mafia is eliminated from its roots. They also demand a deep investigation against those police officials who remained part and parcel of this trade and looted illegal money in crores over the years, as there were massive reports that many officials of various police stations remained neck-deep involved with the drug mafia for years. This 100-day campaign is a mass movement against drugs during which awareness campaigns, youth engagement activities and rehabilitation programmes will also be organised across the J&K UT. LG Manoj Sinha has given strict directions to the J&K police to publicly identify the drug peddlers and hot spots at the police station level to deter others in addition to prosecuting the big fish of the drug trade. While speaking on the occasion of launching the campaign, LG Manoj Sinha, in a strong message to those involved in drug terrorism, said, “The drug menace is threatening the future of the youth, and those who destroy society will face the full and uncompromising weight of the law.” Although the LG Manoj Sinha has launched the much-needed campaign to protect the future of the youth of J&K, those police officials who played a big role in the flourishing of the drug mafia at the police station level need to be taken to task because, without the indirect and silent support of the police, such a mafia cannot survive for long. In Poonch district also, many youngsters lost their lives due to this menace, while habitual offenders were seen having a direct link with some police officials in Poonch district, as this bonhomie between some police officials and drug peddlers proved beneficial for both of them at the cost of spoiling the future of the youth of Poonch. Drug peddlers are still active in Poonch, but the failure of Poonch police in eliminating this menace completely is a cause of big concern from an internal security perspective. Such types of cases also existed in other districts of the J&K UT, where some police officials made heavy fortunes from their indirect and silent involvement in the drug trade. If the LG has started this war on a stronger note, then every person of this anti-national brigade, whether they are government officials or religious or political leaders, must be taken to task strongly for spoiling the future of the next generation just to fulfil their hidden interest of earning illegal money. The initiative of LG Manoj Sinha is highly appreciable and must be supported by people from every section of society. People hope that LG Manoj Sinha’s strong gesture against some tainted police officials who are part of this drug mafia will be implemented on the ground, sending a strong message that nobody is above the law and that anyone who plays foul against the youth and the nation will ultimately face strong consequences under the law.
