Is the Reasi-Rajouri-Poonch proposed rail link a new parliamentary constituency in the making behind the curtains? Ravinder Raina was dodged by Paharis
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: As the union government has announced that the survey for the proposed Reasi-Rajouri-Poonch rail link will begin soon, a discussion has started among political circles: is this proposed railway link actually a new parliamentary constituency in the making?
When the government created a new parliamentary constituency of Anantnag-Rajouri, it was questioned by the people of the twin border districts of Rajouri, but the BJP regime, which mostly believes in conducting unsuccessful experiments, failed on this front also, as the seat was won by opposition NC candidate Mian Altaf, and the BJP was unable to find a suitable candidate for this seat. Moreover, another blow was given to the BJP during the assembly election by Paharis who had been blessed with ST status by the union government in advance. Although the union government opened its heart to the Paharis, they backstabbed the BJP twice, and the BJP’s attempt to create an Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency with an eye to win it failed brazenly. The nationalist supporters opposed the creation of this parliamentary seat, while the BJP labelled it a “masterstroke”, a term they frequently use. Now, after realising its mistake, the BJP top brass might have decided to create a new parliamentary constituency of Reasi-Rajouri-Poonch and blessed this area with a rail link in advance. The people of both regions divided by Pir Ki Gali totally objected to the ideas of the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary seat, but those who floated this idea without knowing the ground conditions show that the BJP top brass has leaders with a limited vision which needs to be upgraded as far as national security issues are concerned. The BJP gave everything to Paharis, but the Paharis backstabbed the BJP. A powerful BJP leader, while talking to “POONCH TODAY” and pleading anonymity, said, “Our firebrand leader Ravinder Raina did a lot in convincing the home minister to grant ST status to Paharis, but when the Paharis backstabbed the BJP in the Poonch-Rajouri region, it irked the home minister, and this is the reason that Ravinder Raina has not been given any important responsibility in the party yet. Paharis have dodged our Raina sahib.” He further added, “Our experience in Poonch and Rajouri remained bad as our trust was broken by the Paharis.” On the new proposed rail link from Reasi to Poonch, he said, “It may be a plan of a new parliamentary constituency, but I am not sure of it.” Let’s wait for things to become clear, as J&K may get two to three seats after the 33% women’s reservation becomes a reality.” Some BJP and NC leaders claimed that they have brought this railway line by raising the issue, but in reality, they are just misguiding the public, as it is likely to be a big move by the top BJP leaders of the nation. Although there is no authentic report of the matter, the people with far-sighted vision on political and security-related development feel that something is cooking behind the curtains, and who knows what will happen in the future, as the BJP has a bad experience in the Rajouri-Poonch belt, and to rectify its fault, anything can happen in the future, as the BJP wants to make seats as per its political mileage.
