‘Turncoat’ leaders from NC, PDP and Congress constitute Poonch BJP by sidelining the real grassroots workers, says a veteran BJP man

POONCH: After the massive victory of the BJP in the assembly elections of West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry, a massive celebration was organised at Poonch under the leadership of former MLC Pardeep Sharma in which hundreds of people of Poonch city were seen attending the open dinner and distribution of sweets.

Amid the victory celebrations, a 71-year-old senior BJP worker was seen sitting at the side of a renowned business establishment, observing the grand celebration with a slight smile, but at the same time, his heart was internally filled with sorrow, which was clearly visible in his eyes. When “POONCH TODAY” approached him and asked for the reason for his distress, pleading anonymity, the 71-year-old man said, “I gave nearly 40 years for the party which was known for utmost nationalism and discipline. Like me, many traditional BJP leaders took the party to heights, but it gives me internal shock every day when I witness the same party has allowed land grabbers, drug peddlers, anti-nationals and opportunist leaders from NC, PDP and Congress into its fold. The Poonch unit of the BJP has become a Congress in reality, as the majority of outsiders have joined the BJP just to fulfil their self-interests. Those who joined the party have no public backing barring a few turncoat leaders. Those who betrayed their parties now are active members of the BJP and are running the party at all the levels. What message does the party high command want to give to the traditional BJP voters who are known for their nationalism? “After pausing for a minute, the old man again said, “What’s the difference between our party and others if we continue to allow people with questionable credentials into the party which was earlier known for its strict discipline and nationalist ideology? ” Allowing land grabbers, anti-nationals and drug peddlers in addition to people with turncoat credentials and doubtful integrity into the BJP has lowered the credibility of the party among the traditional BJP voters. The old man became sentimental, and with some tears in his eyes, he left the place of celebration immediately.” On seeing that 71-year-old man leaving the scene of massive jubilation, a young BJP leader, when asked by “POONCH TODAY” on the issue of various groups in the party, said, “Please don’t mention my name, but the reality is that the credibility of our party has reduced significantly, and you have seen the response of the old party worker who gave his blood for the party. No doubt, the party has opened its gateway for tainted people, and it’s for the top brass of the BJP to think about that. We are just party workers, and we are assembled here on the directions of former MLC and senior BJP leader Pardeep Sharma to celebrate the party’s victory under the able leadership of PM Modi Ji and Amit Shah Ji. However, it gives us pain to see the present condition of the BJP Poonch unit, where everybody with doubtful credentials has entered the party, not for the nation, but for their self-interest to run their business and to protect their various land and other frauds. They use the party’s symbol just to protect their self-interest and nothing else.” Likewise, more BJP workers indirectly hinted that they gave blood for the party, but in return, the party sidelined them and brought outsiders and tainted forces into the party, thereby giving a bad signal to the traditional grassroots BJP supporters. The gestures shown by some traditional BJP workers are a strong indication that all is not well in the Poonch BJP, where outsiders with turncoat credentials have completely taken over the party by giving a cold shoulder to the traditional BJP workers who laid the strong foundation of the party for nearly four decades.
