Doubtful payments disbursed in Irrigation and Flood Control department under SDRF, Tainted Officials played foul

POONCH: The brazen frauds of Irrigation and Flood Control department came to limelight time and again and many inquiry committees were formed by the government to fetch the truth, but money influenced the members of inquiry committees and as a result, everything was thrown beneath the carpet. Sources within the department said that huge payments in several lacs were made under SDRF with the convenience of technical officials of the department after getting huge commission from few contractors. In Mendhar, an ex-legislator used his full might and forced the department to release payments in favour of his worker for non existing works. Huge payments were made for temporary restoration works what to call of works of permanent restoration. Sources in Irrigation and FC department said that majority of payments made by the department were of works which were existing only on paper and not on ground. They said that all remained hand in glove, that’s why no top officer in administration bothered to take action against the department for this brazen wrong doings. The level of corruption has reached to an alarming level and it has forced the common man to raise question over the working of District Vigilance Officer who was fully aware of the misdeeds of Irrigation and Flood control Department. Sources close to “POONCH TODAY” in the office of Irrigation and FC department said, “Department has disbursed more than seven crore payments and if goes by routine commission culture, tainted Irrigation officials have earned in crores by releasing payments which are under question mark. Yahan Sab chalta hai aur sab ko share jata hai”. Pertinent to mention here that ex-Poonch legislators several times leveled allegation of brazen wrong doings against the department and demanded tough action against corrupt officials, still no action has been taken by any institution against them. It shows that commission goes from bottom to top. Only a deep vigilance enquiry can bring the curtain off from the misdeeds of the department officials who murdered funds in crores out of state exchequer.
