Influential faculty members enjoying overstay in Women Gandhi Nagar and GGM Science colleges, Favourite places for bureaucrat’s close relatives

JAMMU: They say that “Rules are for fools and not for influentially sound people” and the same holds true as far as few Assistant and Associate Professors working in Women College Gandhi Nagar and GGM Science college, Jammu is concerned, where hundred of faculty members are enjoying more than 5 to 8 years of regular stay, reason, they are having full backing of bureaucrats and political sound persons. Although, transfer of Associate and Assistant Professors has become a regular routine in Higher Education Department, but looking at the state of affairs in both these two high profile colleges of Jammu city, it seems that no body in the corridors of power has guts to transfer these blue eyed staff members. Some renowned bureaucrats in J&K UT administration managed posting of their close relatives in these two colleges over the years. Even one of the faculty members, who is very close relative of a renowned bureaucrat posted in Jammu was given out of the way benefit by surpassing all seniors and was given a top post in Cluster university. These influential staff members have become so powerful that top management of both the colleges always feel fear to bring this issue into the notice of government and this led to monopoly of these Assistant and Associate Professors in every affair of both the colleges. Having backing of powerful bureaucrats, both in civil and Police administration, few faculty members have made these colleges as their personal property as they know that no body has guts to shift them out of these colleges and if any body dares to shift them out, their handlers are there to protect them or to provide them another suitable posting within Jammu or near by Jammu. Whereas, those faculty members of higher education department, who were having no strong backing, were given tough postings in far flung districts of J&K over the years. Presence of overstaying Associate and Assistant Professors in Govt College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu shows that this college has become a favourite place for close relatives of bureaucrats(Civil and Police) and influential persons. Exclusive documents available with “POONCH TODAY” shows that in Women Gandhi Nagar college, 07 number of faculty members in Botany stream have completed more than five years of stay. Similarly, 12 faculty members in Chemistry, 01 in Economics, 03 in Education, 07 in English, 02 in EVS, 01 in Food Science, 01 in Geography, 02 in Hindi, 06 in Home Science, 04 in Mathematics, 01 in Physics, 01 in Pol Science, 01 in Psychology, 01 in Punjabi, 02 in Sanskrit, 01 in Sociology, 01 in Statistics and 06 in Zoology stream have completed more than 5 to 8 years of stay. This is not the only college which has become favourite place for influential faculty. Another college of Jammu city, namely GGM Science College too has same story to tell. 05 Number of faculty members in English stream are overstayed. Similarly, 13 in Physics stream, 14 in Chemistry stream, 03 in Mathematics, 07 in Botany, 07 in Zoology, 02 in Geology, 02 in Electronics and 02 in BCA have completed more than five years of stay. This shows that how few top bureaucrats of J&K UT used their full might and succeeded in adjusting their close and blood relatives in these two colleges. Such a horrible state of affairs in Higher Education Department shows that less influential faculty members can be posted anywhere, but those having full back can be posted as per their choice.
