Facing multiple charges, influential Police Officers given prize postings in Jammu; Meritorious Inspectors ignored

JAMMU: Few Police officers, who  remained under watchful eyes of top brass of Police for their doubtful activities related to corruption  were sent to DPL on complaint basis earlier, rewarded again with good postings recently by Jammu Police.  One of the Police officer, who was  heading a prime Police station in Jammu was sent to DPL when large number of complaints related to various irregularities reached top brass of Police. Another Police officer with powerful political back was sent to his home area from DPL and these  transfers have raised a question mark that why those Police officers facing multiple charges are rewarded again with suitable postings. The Police officer, who has been sent to his home area, already known in department for earning money through foul activities and had a bad past during his posting as a Chowki officer in  a rural area.  This episode of adjustment of blue eyed officers on good posting has irked many meritorious Inspectors who were eyeing to head Police station as SHO, but are having no back. It has become a  fashion in Jammu Police that those Police officers with all weather friendship with their immediate bosses and having political influence always get good postings. Merit is no criteria for getting a good posting  and officers known for earning money through foul means always adjusted suitably. For e.g A Police officer who had successfully completed  a course in FSL on government expenditure, was not posted there, instead he was adjusted in a prize posting in Jammu city. Another Police officer, who is considered as powerful than few senior Police officer and known for earning money openly through bovine activities was also  transferred recently after hectic efforts, because, water(corruption) level was reached above danger mark as was having good relations with top brass of Police and just to save the reputation of top brass, the said Police officer accepted his transfer to an insignificant location. Such issues of adjustment, not on merit lower the morale of those Police officer who are known for honesty and their professionalism and it is high time that meritorious officers should be given an opportunity at important places, rather than continuously adjusting tainted ones on prize posting, and if such things continue to remain the same in future, then it will have an effect on the credibility of Jammu Police.
