Surankote Municipality  facing allegations of barefaced  frauds; locals allege biased attitude from MC officials

SURANKOTE: Locals of Surankote area  have leveled serious allegations of corruption and barefaced frauds against Municipal committee officials. They allege that blue eyed officials of MC have been indulging in construction activities on nallahs for constructing shops  for their personal use. Locals of the area while talking to “POONCH TODAY” said that MC officials are misusing their official position and are grabbing government lands(Nallahs) for their personal use by constructing shops by murdering tax payers money. They said that many times, people of Surankote approached MC officials for renovation of  toilet complex in Surankote town for the benefit of people, but, rather than addressing the most important public demand, Municipal committee never bothered to spend funds on that toilet of public use, but, they prefer to indulging in activities for personal use by spending government funds in an ill-planed manner. They also said that Executive Officer MC Surankote, Inspector and few other officials have made a mockery of the system and were also involved in fraud withdrawal of SBM funds in several lacs. Even SBM funds were transferred into their personal accounts over the years. Locals alleged that pick and choose policy is being adopted by MC officials for any type  of work. They said that there is no record available of construction of Culverts, Pullies, Foot bridges and also beneficiaries under PMAY were selected by indulging in hand in glove activity. Even, large number of illegal constructions are going on in Surankote town with the neck deep involvement of MC Surankote. Locals have demanded a high level inquiry into the allegations of barefaced frauds beings scripted by blue eyed officials of MC Surankote.
