Fraud in several thousand crores scripted from PWD stores in Poonch and Rajouri districts; Technical staff remained barefacedly involved

POONCH / RAJOURI: Known for scripting various frauds under major heads and various schemes, PWD Engineers and few other technical staff members, also scripted fraud in several thousand of crores over the years from store only. Shockingly, they have no record available pertaining to store from which many multi crore scams were scripted by PWD engineers over the years. Regarding purchasing of material in PWD stores of Poonch, Rajouri and Nowshera, no proper record was maintained and it shows how successive Executive Engineers, AEEs, JEs, Storekeepers and other technical staff murdered government exchequer in several crores. Data available with “POONCH TODAY” shows that PWD officials looted government money openly from store related activities. It is pertinent to mention here that PWD in twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri known as “Malaidaar” department and as a result, many tainted engineers became overnight crorepatis. A retired employee from district administration Poonch said, “An year ago, few Engineers were provided handsome amount before 31st March and they were directed to spend the amount. One of the Engineer spent Rs 50 lacs within six hours on paper while other Engineer managed to spent only Rs 2 lacs and surrendered remaining amount” added “Even after demonetization, few PWD officials were seen approaching their close relative to deposit their money(In crores) in personal accounts”. The level of corruption in PWD divisions of Poonch, Rajouri and Nowshera remained very high. A retired employee from an important post of administration, told “POONCH TODAY” pleading anonymity, “Average per year minimum income of a PWD JE remained in several lacs to crore and from this, one can imagine the income of top officers and other staff members of technical wings of PWD in Poonch, Rajouri and Nowshera divisions, where several thousand of crores were misused brazenly and interestingly, no body raised any voice against blunder of blunders which were carried out in PWD department over the years. More shocking facts related to brazen frauds in PWD stores are in possession of “POONCH TODAY” and this shows that how PWD Engineers and other blue eyed staff members took everything for granted by indulging in scripting major frauds. Reportedly all PWD sub divisions of Poonch and Rajouri remained big centres of frauds and the share was regularly given to those sitting at the helm of affairs in PWD over the years. No doubt, on positive side, PWD has played a big role in development process, but the negative side of PWD which is full of various multi crore frauds, cannot be overlooked and those PWD engineers, who scripted many scams(in crores) need to be booked under relevant provisions of the law to win public confidence in the institution of governance. A high level inquiry is needed against PWD department on reported matters of corruption in several thousand crores from PWD stores of Rajouri, Poonch and Nowshera. Will Commissioner / Secretary PWD look into the matter or not? Only time will tell.
