POONCH TODAY NEWS

POONCH: Although there is a general impression going on among the people of Poonch that majority of officers of administration are not well-organized and the fact seems to be proving right, when on the occasion of ‘Republic Day’, few high profile self styled intelligent officers of Poonch administration were seen celebrating the historic day  by completely violating the COVID protocol and the celebration took place in an illegal constructed premises in ‘Red Zone’ area. It is pertinent to mention here that the same area near S.K bridge was declared as ‘Red Zone’ area by the administration twice, once by former DC M.H Malik and then another time by former DC Rahul Yadav(IAS). The cheap gesture shown by few civil and police officers show that the COVID protocol is only for the common man and not for officers of civil administration. Officers are only made for making rules and when the question of following the same rules comes, they don’t bother. The said republic day party was arranged in the ‘Flood Zone’ area  near S.K bridge. Even many inquiry committees were formed by the administration and ACR and Tehsidlar were directed to investigate the matter of illegal constructions in ‘Red Zone’ but no report , whatsoever has yet reached in public domain, what to call about any action from the  administration. This criminal silence maintained by the administration shows that something was fishy behind the curtains. On one hand, the said area was illegally encroached by vested interests and despite having full knowledge of this fact, few officers of the Poonch administration were spotted in the said ‘Red Zone’ completely breaking the COVID protocol and their videos and photographs went viral on social media. This incident forced the people of Poonch city to form the opinion that the administration was fooling the people on COVID protocol and illegal constructions in the ‘Red Zone.’ Those people who have encroached on water bodies, embankment of main roads, irrigation canals, and also constructed illegal buildings seem to have been given green signal by the tainted officers of administration. With the neck deep involvement of a few tainted officers of administration, this ‘Red zone’ area has become a big business market and if flood strikes again and washes away everything, who would be responsible then. A high level inquiry is needed from the government to investigate how such a large number of illegal constructions have come up in the ‘Red zone area in addition to conducting a deep inquiry on how culverts, irrigation canals, water bodies and areas of PWD main road have been encroached. So-called efficient district administration must explain whether these illegal constructions have been legalized or not? Moreover, those officers who openly violate COVID protocol also need to be taken to task by the Deputy Commissioner, if the Deputy Commissioner has guts as there should be no double standard at all.
