Crooked officials of Police and Civil  administration sabotaged Poonch Municipality’s anti encroachment drive near Poonch fort

POONCH: Few months back, Poonch Municipality launched an anti encroachment drive near Poonch fort, where large number of illegal constructions and illegal Khokhas have come up over the years under the nose of district administration.  Despite having full information about presence of illegal Khokhas and structures, successive Deputy Commissioner’s never took action against the illegal encroachers. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Poonch Municipality launched the drive, but few Police and civil administration officials sabotaged the whole drive by indulging in reported hand in glove relation with those who built illegal constructions and Khokhas there.  It is pertinent to mention  here that when the drive started, large number of people from encroacher’s side emerged and protested against Poonch municipality and this led to scuffle between encroachers and Poonch Municipality staff.  Police officials, who were present there were directed by a Police officer to leave the area immediately and this led to suspicion why entire Police force was directed to leave during drive.  The same day during evening hours, some Police officials were seen entering the house of encroachers and what happened inside that house that no drive has been taken place again after that day against illegal encroachment till now. Highly placed sources within the administration told “POONCH TODAY” that few Police officials and  civil administration officials were pleased hugely by the encroachers through backdoor channels. As the drive was sabotaged completely, Poonch municipality officials started protest against attack on some councilors by encroachers and against administration for not supporting the drive. “POONCH TODAY” time and again published that huge illegal constructions and illegal Khokhas have come up near Poonch fort area and administration did nothing to punish those who were involved in huge illegal constructions near Poonch fort. This whole episode shows that how few crooked officials of Police and civil administration gave priority to their hunger for capital over ensuring victory of law over evil.
