Few Police officers with backing of top brass have become powerful than seniors in Jammu

JAMMU: Few  Police officers in Jammu have become so powerful that their immediate seniors feel hesitation in replacing them from their present place of postings  in spite of huge complaints of corruption against them. Known for getting good postings in and around Jammu due to their links with top brass, these Police officers are so powerful that nobody in Police can think of creating an alternative for them when it comes to shifting them to other places. Highly placed sources, wishing anonymity, told “POONCH TODAY” these Police officers heading different thanas are masters of everything as far as earning money through foul means is concerned. One more thing is that, they keep their top brass happy by all means and this is the reason, no body can think of standing against them, because of their strong all weather friendship with few chairs in top brass. Few days ago, some Police officers,  despite facing negative reports, were transferred in Jammu city on good postings  and this led to huge resentment among those Inspectors who were eyeing getting thanas, but were having no back. An another powerful  Inspector,   who was running an important thana of Jammu, was also instrumental in ensuring successful bovine smuggling attempts during his second last posting, but always faced tough stances from his immediate senior who was deadly against bovine smuggling. When the said Police officer, failed in his regular bovine smuggling attempts, he approached his boss and played every move to get his immediate officer shifted, but he failed,  because the said immediate officer was having  good reputation in  government for his professional policing. Sensing trouble, the said SHO got himself transferred and managed to get an important posting again.  Another Police officer, who is from different wing, also has a strong link in top brass and has been getting good postings in Jammu due to his say in high ups of Police.   One more influential Police  officer, running a thana, never hesitates in indulging in an open corruption from all sources. Even top ranked officers of J&K police are unable to take action against these few Police officers who are having strong links in top brass and it seems that top Police officers have different view points as far as tackling this issue which has already become a topic of discussion in few media platforms and also in Police circles.
